Colombian scientists have just discovered a species of poisonous golden frog in the deep mountains of Colombia. This new frog species is about 2 cm in length, with pale yellow skin hidden underneath are layers of pigment. They are named Supatá golden frogs.
The scientists who discovered these tiny frogs said they have some characteristics in common with some other frog species in the area, but the Supatá golden frog is a separate species, the only one found in this large area. 20 hectares of the Cundinamarca region of Colombia.
Colombia is one of the world’s most diverse amphibian countries with more than 583 known species.
Currently, many frog species in Central and South America are at risk of disappearing before humans find them.
