For the first time, the research team discovered a patch of land including more than 300 extremely rare “ghost trees” on mountains thousands of meters high in the Yangjifeng national nature reserve in Guixi city, Jiangxi province, China. This is also where many oriental medicinal herbs are distributed in China.

These are quartz orchids, also known as “ghost plants”, which are perennial herbaceous plants, do not contain chlorophyll, and are very rare in nature.

“I have lived here for more than 40 years and this is the first time I have seen ghost trees. We patrol here twice a day, in the morning and afternoon, to observe the growth of plants. At the same time, make sure no outsiders affect them,” said Mr. Hung, a ranger at Yangjifeng National Nature Reserve.

“Ghost tree” grows mainly at altitudes from 800m-3850m above sea level. This is a very rare plant with strange beauty, emitting white light in the dark.

“It is very rare to see ghost fish in large flora because it grows in a special environment with a lot of debris.

It is short, has a strange shape, is covered all over in white, has no chlorophyll for photosynthesis but absorbs nutrients from rotting plants,” said Mr. Chau, chief engineer of the reserve. Yangjifeng shared.
