The monkeys are only the size of a mouse with very large eyes that take up most of the face. When standing in front of the photographer’s lens, the Tarsier monkey winked one eye to show off.

Each Tarsier weighs only about 600 grams and their maximum body length is only about 15 cm.

Tarsier monkeys appeared on Earth 45 million years ago and were widely distributed in many areas on Earth. However, currently this monkey species is at risk of extinction. The main reason is that their habitat is shrinking and many wild cats see them as prey to hunt. On the other hand, this rare monkey species is often caught by local people to raise and sell to tourists.

In addition to big eyes, Tarsier monkeys also have equally big ears. These ears provide great support for them when listening for the movements of prey such as insects, birds, snakes or lizards. Their hind limbs are also very long, especially the instep bones. Thanks to these legs, Tarsier monkeys can move quickly on tree branches at night. The distance of their jump can be 40 times longer than their body length.

The last time people saw this monkey was in 1921. After that, scientists thought they were extinct. It was not until 2008 that people rediscovered them in Indonesia and some Southeast Asian countries.
