With a large body, the ability to run fast and jump very high, camel spiders are a terrifying threat to many animals.
Camel spiders (scientific name: Arachnid Solifugae) are also known as Wind Scorpions. They belong to the Hairy Spider family and live mainly in deserts.
They possess 6 pairs of legs of all shapes and sizes.
Their body length can be up to 15cm, so people also call them giant spiders.
With the ability to move at speeds of up to 50km/h and jump to a height of 2m, camel spiders are a terror to all animals in the desert.
They often hunt alone seasonally and at night.
Camel spiders use sharp, crab-like teeth and knives to attack insects, rodents, snakes and small birds.
When moving, they emit strange sounds to distract enemies and prey.
Although not venomous, this spider can defeat large animals with just one bite.
In some places, people also rumored that camel spiders are cannibals. They have become the inspiration for many movies about the “crimes” of spiders against humans.
In Latin, the camel spider’s name means “fleeing the sun”.
