The amazing moment was captured from above by photographer Mikhail Mikhailov from eastern Russia, capturing a strange mud volcano shaped exactly like a giant’s eye. Looking down from above, the center of the volcano looks like an eye, surrounding the iris is mud brown, with surprising symmetry.

The rare scene was captured at the Pugachevskiy mud volcano on Sakhalin Island, eastern Russia. “I have never witnessed a similar scene. There are quite a few mud volcanoes in the world, but the Pugachevskiy volcano is more famous because of its unique appearance,” said photographer Mikhailov.

It is known that the second largest Pugachevskiy mud volcano is on Sakhalin Island, located about 167 km north of Yuzhno. This is a large elliptical swamp area stretching from southwest to northeast.
